My recent work has involved the bending or reversing of an associational circuit. It attempts to open up the assumptions which program our reactions to familiar rituals and objects. Often involving the viewer directly in the work so as to ensure that even if you don't consciously engage in the ideas you are still acting them out unconsciously through your actions.
SHOWFLAT is the opportunity to collapse the physical distance between living, making and exhibiting. The gesture of transforming your flat into a gallery has many interesting implications...
-It is a physical manifestation of the life sacrifices necessary to make art
-It shows that artists have an exhibition space right under their noses
-It turns intimacy and vulnerability into strengths which are shown to be missing from an increasingly corporate artworld.
